چکیده

To mitigate global climate change and simultaneously increase soil productivity, the use of biochar in agriculture can be a modern agro-technology that help reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing carbon sequestration, ultimately increasing crop yield. This study aimed to evaluate effects lime application on chemical properties acid emission CO2. A 60-day incubation was conducted with eleven treatments (T) which two different produced from rice husk (RHB) oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFBB) at rates (10 15 t ha?1) three dolomitic limestone (100%, 75%, 50%), recommended rate NPK control (no amendment). The result showed significantly increased pH, available P, decreased exchangeable Al compared control. pH 44.02% treatment day 15, P found 22.44 mg kg?1 30 Treatment 7 (75% + ha?1 RHB). cumulative CO2 T7 207.40 ?mol m?2 139.41% Our findings conclude RHB 75% has more potential than EFBB nutrient availability reduce soil.

Applying Biochar and Mineral Amendments to Remediate the Chemical Properties of a Saline-Sodic Soil

The present study was intended to improve the chemical properties of a saline-sodic soil using the individual application of alfalfa residue and two biochars produced from sugarcane bagasse and walnut shell, at the weighting ratio of 5%; their concomitant application with gypsum, aluminum sulfate and the mixture of these two chemical amendments was considered. The experiment was conducted in th...

Soil carbon sequestration and biochar as negative emission technologies.

Despite 20 years of effort to curb emissions, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions grew faster during the 2000s than in the 1990s, which presents a major challenge for meeting the international goal of limiting warming to <2 °C relative to the preindustrial era. Most recent scenarios from integrated assessment models require large-scale deployment of negative emissions technologies (NETs) to reach th...

Designer, acidic biochar influences calcareous soil characteristics.

In a proof-of-concept study, an acidic (pH 5.8) biochar was created using a low pyrolysis temperature (350 °C) and steam activation (800 °C) to potentially improve the soil physicochemical status of an eroded calcareous soil. Biochar was added at 0%, 1%, 2%, and 10% (by wt.) and soils were destructively sampled at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 month intervals. Soil was analyzed for gravimetric water con...

Effect of Acidic Biochars on Some Chemical Properties and Nutrient Availabilities of Calcareous Soils

Low organic matter content and alkaline pH of calcareous soils in arid and semi-arid regions are the main reasons for the low nutrient availabilities for plants in these soils. One way to improve the chemical properties and fertility of calcareous soils is the application of organic substances such as biochar produced from pyrolysis of organic wastes. However, biochars have an almost predominan...

Species-specific responses to atmospheric carbon dioxide and tropospheric ozone mediate changes in soil carbon.

We repeatedly sampled the surface mineral soil (0-20 cm depth) in three northern temperate forest communities over an 11-year experimental fumigation to understand the effects of elevated carbon dioxide (CO(2)) and/or elevated phyto-toxic ozone (O(3)) on soil carbon (C). After 11 years, there was no significant main effect of CO(2) or O(3) on soil C. However, within the community containing onl...
